Target Tree & Haviland Lake Campgrounds

Target Tree

Target Tree Campground is located 7 miles east of Mancos on the north side of Highway 160 at an elevation of 7,643 feet. It is the ideal camping spot for day trips to Mancos, Durango and Mesa Verde National Park.

Haviland Lake

Haviland Lake Campground is situated on its beautiful namesake within the San Juan National Forest, 18 miles north of Durango. Visitors enjoy the area for its canoeing, fishing and hiking opportunities in a scenic, natural setting.

Mesa Verde National Park

A cultural site that preserves the heritage of 27 Pueblos and Tribes. The Ancestral Pueblo people built thriving communities on the mesas and in the cliffs of Mesa Verde. Book a Cliff Dwelling Tour!

Cliff Palace

Cliff Palace is the largest known cliff dwelling in North America. Built between 1190 and 1280 CE, Cliff Palace was once home to over 100 people.

Balcony House

A tour of Balcony House is one of the most adventurous in the park and not for the faint-of-heart. Heidi doesn’t love heights or small places and was able to do the ladders and small doorways.

Petroglyph Trail

The 2.4-mile (3.9 km) loop trail is narrow, rugged, and rocky, with several steep drop-offs along the canyon wall on the way to the petroglyph panel.

Durango

Rent paddle boards and explore the Animas River. We had planned to do a more extensive river trip, but it was too late in the season and the river was low.
