Siamese Twins Trail in Colorado Springs

Featuring the iconic Siamese Twins rock formation and a natural “window” that perfectly frames Pikes Peak.

What a difference a day can make. We flew into Denver on May 5 just ahead of the usual May snowstorm. The hour and a half drive to Maintou Springs was ‘interesting’ mix of snow and rain and a slightly slick freeway. We were glad to pull int our adorable AirBnB around 9pm after stopping at a grocery store for a couple of snack items to hold us over the next day.

May 6

Our AirBnB was walking distance from the park. Big fat snowflakes fell as we made our way to the neighborhood trailhead.

May 7

The skies were clear and perfect for sunrise, which was a very early 5am wake-up call. No regrets. The colors of the sun dawning first on Pikes Peak, and then the Twins was worth it. We even had enough time to make coffee to bring with us.
